Plugins.

Plugins add abilities Nilux does not have out of the box. You install and switch them on with /plugins, and they run on your computer.

Open /plugins

Type /plugins to see the list. Select a plugin with the arrow keys and press Enter to install it, update it or switch it on and off. Press d twice to remove one.

Installing needs npm, which you already have if you installed Nilux with it.

Error checking after edits

With the TypeScript plugin (for TypeScript and JavaScript) or the Pyright plugin (for Python), Nilux checks every file it edits, right on your computer. If an edit introduced an error, Nilux finds out immediately and can fix it before moving on, instead of finding out later from your build.

  • Only new problems are reported, not the ones that were already in the file.
  • An edit can break another file, for example by renaming something the other file uses. Nilux reports that too, if it has that file open.
  • Under the edit you see a short line saying how many new problems were found. Press Ctrl+O to see them.
  • If your project has its own TypeScript, the plugin uses that version.

The check itself runs on your computer. Only the list of new problems goes into the conversation.

Browser

The Browser plugin lets Nilux open web pages, click, fill in forms and read what is on the screen. Use it to test the app you are building, or to look something up on a site that needs a login. Screenshots and downloads go to a scratch folder, not into your project.

It has two modes; press m in /plugins to switch:

  • Clean browser: Nilux uses a separate browser of its own. It does not see your logins or tabs.
  • My Chrome: Nilux uses your own Chrome through the Playwright browser extension, in tabs of its own, with your logins. Install the extension, then press t in /plugins to enter its token. The token stays on your computer.

If something is wrong with a plugin, the status line says so; /plugins shows what happened.
