Files and images.
Nilux works with more than code. It can read documents, look at screenshots and create images for your project.
Documents
Point Nilux at a file and ask about it, for example "summarise docs/spec.pdf" or "what changed in sales.xlsx between the two sheets?"
- PDF: Nilux reads the text page by page and keeps tables in columns. For a long PDF it reads the pages it needs, a few at a time. It can also look at a picture inside a page, or at a whole page as an image. That helps with diagrams and scanned documents.
- Word (
.docx): text, headings and tables. - Excel (
.xlsx): each sheet as a table, with formulas shown as their results. Nilux can read a single sheet by name. - Jupyter notebooks (
.ipynb): the cells in order, with their outputs.
Older formats (.doc, .xls) and presentations are not supported. Nilux will suggest saving the file as .docx, .xlsx or PDF first.
Show Nilux an image
A screenshot is often the fastest way to explain a problem: an error dialog, a broken layout, a design to build.
- Paste it: copy the image, then type
/pasteat the prompt, or pressCtrl+VorAlt+V. It appears as[Image #1]in your message. - Give its path: type the path to a
.png,.jpg,.gifor.webpfile at the end of your message.
You can attach several images to one message. They stay with the conversation, so they are still there after /resume.
On Linux, pasting images needs wl-paste (Wayland) or xclip (X11).
Create images
Ask Nilux to draw something your project needs, such as an icon, an illustration or a background, and say where to save it:
bash❯make a flat app icon with a paper plane, transparent background, save it to public/icon.png
- You choose the quality. Before it starts, Nilux shows the quality levels with the price and the rough time of each, cheapest first. A quick draft costs far less than a detailed final image. Press
Escto cancel before anything is spent. - The file name sets the format.
.pngor.webpfor a transparent background,.webpfor web pages,.jpgfor photos. - The shape is yours. Ask for a square icon or a tall poster and you get that shape.
- Restyle an existing image. Show Nilux a picture and ask for a new one in the same style.
- It runs in the background. Nilux keeps working and tells you when the file is ready.
